Goodbye 2006

December 31, 2006

Last post for this year. Weeee

We’re not doing much for new year, but we did get nudie hats to wear around ๐Ÿ™‚

To close out the year, here’s my last finished knitted thing for year 2006

Hat with brim (or is it called tam?), bit late Christmas present for Carrie, one of my coworkers. I wanted to make some thing cute but not like overly sappy girly. I think it turned out pretty good. She seemed to like it. I started it on, oh like day after Christmas or something, or maybe Wednesday, and finished on Friday, and gave it to her today.

Oh and here’s the hat I started yesterday or so, and it will reluctantly take 2 years to finish ๐Ÿ˜‰ Hah!

I got some of these gigantic plastic buttons and I don’t exactly know what to do with them so I decided to make few hats around it, and this is one of them.

Well, fireplace is lit, boyfriend next to me – check. Geeky friend spending a night over – check. Booze – check. Stupid movies – check. And… nudie hats and stuff, check and check.

Happy New Year everybody!

Christmas Eve

December 24, 2006

I think I’m finally ready for Christmas now.

Well, I better be. After all, it’s Christmas Eve today.

All the presents are all wrapped up and ready to go. Actually, I take it back, there are couple of things I have to still wrap up, but that’s what the mornings are for.

And here’s the recap of all the knitted Christmas gifts I’ve made this year.

IMG_1554 IMG_1547 IMG_1364 IMG_1302 IMG_1142 IMG_1415

(left to right) Grandma W’s socks, Great Aunt Flo’s socks, Shedir hat for Chris’s mom, bigass afghan for Chris’s parents (even though it’s more for me because their house is so cold all year around!), Elfine’s socks for Grandma S, and Illini stocking for Amanda O.

Boy, am I glad it’s over for now.

Shopping day

December 19, 2006

Oh how much I dislike Christmas shopping.

Way too many people, no patience, pushy and needy.

We somehow managed to get some shopping done. Really, all done but for Chris’s dad and grandfather – seems like they’re always most challenging ones. Not that we got any great gifts for anyone, but alas, it’s (mostly) done.

I like gift wrapping. Shopping just isn’t my thing.

(actually, I should also include the fact that I don’t really have anything for Chris… yet)

On the contrary, I did find something good today. I made a trip over to the new lys in Urbana, got two hanks of this gorgeous yarn. Hopefully I have time to make a hat for Chris’s dad before we have to leave town for Christmas.

It’s Melange by Blue Sky Alpaca in color #803. Chris even “helped” me pick out the color.

Thing of a beauty, don’t you think?

Still socking

December 18, 2006

The work Christmas dinner was actually better than expected. Even though there were less number of people than I expected, but the food was good and everyone was actually talking.
Though, I think frozen magarita is total waste of booze.

Now onto the socks, About wee less than half way done on second pair.

Tomorrow is shopping day. I’m not at all looking forward to it.

Socks and chocolate

December 13, 2006

Yeay for the first “real” post of some sort.

Still working on socks for Flo for Christmas, it’s “almost” done but not quite there yet. I was hoping to finish them tonight but I think it’s more realistic to aim for tomorrow. It’s yet again 3×1 rib for it’s stretchiness to compensate for my uncertainty on her foot size. And after thought heel, just because I don’t feel like dealing with heels right now.On the other note, I made chocolate truffles tonight!
