Hooray for November. No more insane hours at work. Hooray for return of sanity (well, almost).

I didn’t exactly do whole lot since the last post. In fact, the pink stripey (supposedly a stashbuster) is on indefinite hold due to shortage of yarn – yes, so the stashbusting idea totally backfired. I did start on another pair of socks though – started a pair of Dublin Bay with my insane lime-salmon J-Knits from the stash.

Let see, what else have I done in October…. Ah, I did manage to make a wee chef coat for one of my coworker’s little boy. I wish I could’ve taken better pictures but.. he just learned to walk not too long ago and now he’s running around everywhere and super fast! He’s making Speedy Gonzalez look like Regular Gonzalez! (Thank you Futurama)

Oh and have I mentioned that this is super image-heavy post?

And before I go, I need to give big hugs, wet kisses, and endless thank you to Ariel and Tania for insanely generous gifts! Tania sent me a breathtakingly gorgeous skein of Brooks Farm Acero, and Ariel sent me a skein of STR Lightweight (now I guess I’ll know what it is that makes STR as addicting as crack) and a very batty sock bag. Thank you, thank you, thank you girls!

Oh I really haven’t been doing much lately – definitely no knitting for oh, almost a week now, if not more.

I did manage to make a bag though.

And here are rest of my dorky self-photo session.

I like the way it turned out. Well, after all, it’s exactly same bag as for the one I made for Andrea a while ago. The only (and major) difference is that this has a magnetic snap closure rather than d rings – which I think is more substantial and usable!

And… I am working on making more of those sock pouch/bag things. It’s going pretty slowly but steady.

On that note, I think this may be time for bed. You know, it’s only 3 AM already :D

Now that my sockapalooza pal has gotten the her stuff, I can finally reveal the grand mystery socks.

And yes, my downstream pal was Ariel! I had super hard time trying to keep it all on the secret, trying very hard to be discrete, just in case she suspects anything. Yes, there was a reason why I was all hush hush about all this even though it was no super-duper secret. I was trying to stay under the radar, just in case! I actually finished the socks like early July and meanwhile I had to keep my mouth shut – that was a lot harder than I imagined. That was probably the most difficult about this particular swap. It was my first swap thing I ever signed up for, and I’d like to call it a sucess! :D

As for the “specs” – the pattern is Thirassia. Yes, it’s “en español” but I really only needed the stitch chart… and it was fun yet easy peasy. The yarn used is Sapphire Superwash from Ruby Sapphire Yarns in Vera colorway.

… And other than that, I’ve been cutting out pieces for those zip up sock pouches while procrastinating on buying zippers.

In fact, I really haven’t been knitting lately – as in past few days. But I did finish Amanda‘s socks for Knittyboard sockswap, but won’t be mailed out until this coming Tuesday when I am able to go to the post office.

And speaking of Ariel and Amanda… those two, along with their crazy kintting group in Boston have a podcast called FiberCult. They’re still relatively new but they’re fun-filled bunch. Please show your support and listen to them! And while I’m at plugging mood, tomorrow (August 17th) is Anne Marie‘s birthday. Please go and wish her a happy happy birthday! …and that concludes this portion of rambling.

I’m actually breaking the habit of one (ok, sometimes two) post per month, and decide to make another post for August! How exciting! Honestly, I usually only work one project at a time, so I don’t have whole lot of WIP discussion or whatnot. I start it, and I finish it. Not much there to talk about really. Eh. Anyhow – here’s my accomplishment of yesterday evening.

It’s a zip up pouch, just big enough to carry a small knitting project, like a pair of socks. Or, any other junk I suppose. It’s a plain bag with zipper pull on top. I suppose one can fill it up with make-up, candies, or something something, bah, who cares. But at the end, it was my original intention to make it in sock-knitting friendly size, so there it goes. And here goes the lining:

So, that’s my creation for Saturday.

I’m actually taking a long weekend off for once. And to start it off, I finally made a trip over to the post office and mailed out my Sockapalooza socks. Once my pal gets the socks, I’ll be revealing not-so-secret socks I made for my pal! How (vaguely) exciting! ;) Hopefully it fits, and she likes them.

Afterwards, Chris and I drove around and around, which was nice and relaxing – it’s something we haven’t done for very long time. It was nice and sunny – okay, maybe bit too hot, but wasn’t terribly bad.

Then, we made a quick run over to a fabric store. I didn’t find anything overly exciting, but I did find this:

Oh and when we came home, I found this beauty in the mailbox!

I entered a contest over at Fee‘s blog and I was one of the runner-up’s. These are the most adorable wee stitch markers ever! Thank you Fee!

So, that pretty much sums up today. Just another not-manic Friday.
