So what else is new

November 17, 2010

I know I’m a very focused and determined person. Yes, I get work done, even with distractions.

How do I know? Well, here’s is an example.

I have a cat on my lap, as always. In fact, she’s been clingier than usual now that the weather has cooled down considerably. I cannot possibly sit front of the desk without having her glued to my lap, or worse, she’d sit on the keyboard or mousepad. Or, her little kittybutt would be on my wrist as I’m trying to maneuver the mouse.. and I have “work” to do.

Knitting, also is another fun activity. She loves yarn. She loves it even more when it moves (aka, the little cast on tail hanging from the WIP). She wants to play with it or chew on it. She insists it’s her “play” time – funny because when I intend on playing with her with “her” string (oppose to the yarn I’m working with), all she does is just sit and stare.

Basically, I semi-permanently have a cat glued to my lap – a cute, furry, purry one. She’s so lucky she’s so little and cute, I probably won’t put up with her shit if she wasn’t. Hah! Though it’s just a speculation, it’s possible she probably could get away with murder.

Oh the sweet life that is living with a cat. So, what else is new?

It’s October already

October 12, 2010

So far during the month of October…

Cocoa likes to hide in Chris’s closet where she can just “blend in”.

On related note, I’ve learned that it possible to lose a cat within one bedroom apartment.

And we went and saw Bad Religion – for their thirtieth anniversary tour. It was only appropriate that it was their 30 year anniversary, and we went to see them to celebrate Chris’s 30th birthday.

I can’t believe how old we’re getting. Kinda scary how the time flies by.

And I’ve been playing Fable 2 on xbox. I find it pretty funny how fast I was able to “beat” the game, despite the fact that I have hardest time with the controllers (you should see me trying to access netflix with the xbox controller… really).

And I’ve been knitting off and on. More off than on. Something something.

Oh and last but not the least – now it’s official!! Ariel is developing a sock book with Cooperative Press! And they need your help!

Please participate this survey for sock/feet sizing and measurement (also, hidden in the survey is a mini contest, please read the survey for details!). You don’t necessarily have to be a sock knitter (or a knitter for that matter) to participate in the survey. I thank you in advance for your participation! And I’m sure Shannon and Ariel would also appreciate your effort as well!

Not much going on this such gloomy day

June 8, 2010

One of the perks, or rather “curse” of being a “homemaker” or whatever is.. well… sometimes wearing “real pants” (oppose to fake ones? or imaginary ones?) is actually one of big accomplishments.

Or, “on special occasion only” type of deal.

Ok, that’s not entirely true, but here I am, still rolling around in pajama pants. And there goes another figurative speech again since I’m not really rolling around – rather I’m kinda being held against my will sitting at this chair by ever so clingy cat. Cocoa has been pretty much glued to me all morning, preventing me from going about to do daily things that I may or may not do, such as.. putting (actual, oppose to pj’s) pants on.

It’s quite cold and gloomy outside today. Technically it’s not “cold” but yeah it’s rather cool for summer – after all, it is June already. Oh and rainy. Gloomy weather usually equals very clingy Cocoa, or so it seems. She’s been pretty much glued to my lap complete with purring and all the lovey dovey things all morning so far. I even tried to hug her (which is usually the best cat-repellent method) but yeah, that doesn’t seem to work right now.

So anyways, about the only “knitting” I’ve worked on officially has been that twin socks with Ariel.

Done with first sock, and sort of barely started on the second one. It will get done, eventually. There is something about stockinette in the round kinda makes me go slow. Which is odd because it’s actually faster to knit – but I also kinda get bored/get sick of it time to time so I can only seem to work on it few rows at a time, not a significant progress.

And because I can (and because I am probably a crazy cat lady by now), I’m ending this post with a picture of Cocoa taken few days ago.

Just look at those fuzzy wuzzy little mitten paws. Doesn’t that just melt your heart? (I guess the emphasis should be on crazy more than cat lady part)

Weekend wrap up

May 3, 2010

This past weekend seemed longer than usual. It’s probably because Chris took Thursday and Friday off. A long long long long weekend, but somewhat eventful (ok, not really).

We went and saw Nofx at Riverside on Thursday night. It was fun, though that’s not saying it was perfect. The show itself was awesome: few highlight would be a) they played couple of my favs from Punk in Drublic (namely “The Brews” and “Linoleum”), b) they actually played “The Decline” in its full 18 minute worth, c) they ended the show with little musical number from Avenue Q – they kinda did little (and terrible) dance-routine thing to “Everyone’s a Little Bit Racist”.

And yes, I’m a sucker and did take a crappy picture with my phone.

Few downside of the show, if I may say: one, what a strange venue for a show! It was in a real “theater” setting, I mean, with seats! And of course everyone stood up front of their seats. And did stupid little dances. Hey kids, if you want to start dance and prance, go up by the stage where people actually “move” and jump and start moshing! When we went and saw Flight of the Conchords last year, it wasn’t an issue (since the seats were assigned and all and everyone just sat there) but I don’t know about for a punk show. Two, noticing “youngings”: Right before we walked in to the theater, I noticed bunch of kids hanging outside by the door, and one of which wore a “Class of 10” shirt. Man, I’m OLD! Oh, that, and another group of kids who was actually “sitting” front of us. It was like group of 6-7 kids or so, one of them bought ONE cup of beer and they were passing it around to everyone within that group. Now, if that doesn’t give away “we’re underaged!” than what would?! Really? Like one sip of beer would make you “cool”? If you’re going to drink, DRINK! Taking one sip when you’re not supposed to, in the public, that’s lame. I’m just saying, I don’t advocate underage drinking but let’s face it, we’ve all done it. But like, seriously, kids, if you’re going to do it then do it like you mean it, otherwise, don’t do it at all! In all actuality, if you get “caught” drinking, whether it was one sip or whole twelve pack, guess what, you’re in trouble. When did these kids become such wussies? (though the word i used initially started with p, not w)

And.. moving on.

So we also went to this home-improvement outlet type of store to look for a dining table. Saw some we kinda liked, but nothing was “wow must get it”. The prices were decent though (hence why we went to check it out). Then we saw the signs about their delivery fee: $155 flat. I mean, if you’re really buying tons of stuff because you’re remodeling your house, I think that’s a good deal! But yeah, we weren’t going to buy $150-$200 table and that much to have it delivered. Unfortunately, I don’t think they’d fit in our teeny car, but seriously, if we were to buy something there, we might as well rent like a uhaul van and haul it ourselves and it would still be cheaper. That’s just a thought. (And yes, we’re still tableless)

And I caved in and bought a skein of Woolease to finish the sweater finally. I wasn’t sure when I would be able to buy one, but thankfully Michael’s was right next to that outlet place we went. This is what it looked like as of last night:

I gave it a little “bath” so the stitches would relax a bit so it’s softer before I start wearing it. And laid it down on the flat to dry overnight. And this is what it looks like as of this afternoon:

I tried to nudge her to get her off the catbed. I mean, off my sweater. And as you can see, it worked oh so well.

Once again, I don’t really have any WIP to work on. No idea what to knit now, as of yet.

Happy Cocoa-versary!

April 19, 2010

It’s been a year already since the first day little Cocoa Kitty Butt came to live with us!

Well, technically today marks one year for the day Cocoa came for “visiting”/cat-sitting. But doesn’t really matter because after staying with us for 3 weeks (though originally meant to be only for 2 wks), she went “home” for five days before she “permanantly” moved in. Close enough. So.. yes, I count today as the anniversary. Hooray for little Cocoa!

I’m still very much smitten with my mitten kitten.
